The little things

to brighten the dark

It's the little things, I said
In the sea of blue
of drowning
There is this need
For good, for bright
Something to lift
Turn on the light

“What is it you need?”
You may ask
I need something small
A joke, a hug
A piece of chocolate, a song
Or just a twirl
On the kitchen floor
To make me laugh

I need a hairpin
To lift up my hair
Or to put on a ring
Sparkling,
That matches my dress

A smile will be good
A very good start
To bring in Sunshine
Where there is dark.
